d'Arenberg 2004 South Australian Cabernet

Written by Jack Hatfield

This wine was felt by the group that it was a very pleasing wine that would pair nicely with food.

That also was it's problem.

Peju Province 2004 Napa Valley

Written by Jack Hatfield

The Cabernet Sauvignon Peju 2004 from Napa gave everyone exactly what they expected. A big nose and smooth finish.

But that is where the expectations stopped.

Welcome to the Good Life Guide!

Written by Jack Hatfield

Let me tell you about the Good Life Guide.

It will highlight things that make success sweeter. Cigars, Whisk(e)y, and Wine.

First we start with Wine. We only talk Red Wine here, so all you white wine drinkers need to make a change. We will help you.

The Wine Club meets once a week and drinks a bottle of wine and rate it. We have been doing this for over 3 years. The Wine Club started with 3 guys, and added 1, then 2 left this earth early(so that they could drink nothing but 10's), and then added the next 3rd wine drinker. We have went through our ups and downs but our distinction of having new and veteran palates are what makes us great! We also take nothing serious. We are not wine snobs, we are easily impressed with the best. We rate on a scale of 1 to 10. We have had only one 10 rated wine. We have had so many 9 or above exceptional wines. Come here every week for our wine update. I will also be putting up past ratings so that when you get to go have a taste of the Red Wine Good Life, you will know what will not disappoint.

Our Cigar Club meets just as often and tastes some of the most incredible Cigars around. We try cigars of all makes and models. Again, we have fun with it. So don't start getting all uppity about our reviews. We rate again from 1 to 10.  Cigars are an incredibly complex item that can vary in each box even. We give them props on four levels, physical construction(appearence, ash and draw), Raw Draw Flavor, Initial Flavor, and finally sweet spot flavor. Trust us, these are the only things you notice on most cigars, in a nutshell, does it look like crap, does it taste like crap when I light it, and does it continue to taste like crap after I smoke it for awhile. This is what any cigar smoker is worried about and we give you what you want.

Our Whisk(e)y Club meets as often as it can and we may rate Scotches that you can't get unless you join the society. Give me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I will send you an application. When we are not rating these fine once-in-a-lifetime scotches, we rate the ones you can get at a good liquor store. Be sure to tune in here to see what you would like to relax with tonight!

Now, if we rate something you "just can't afford", then you need us more than ever. Our goal is everyone that joins this site to taste the Good Life. Once your life hits its version of success, you will taste your own version of the Good Life, and we will be right here if that happens to be one of these fine products!

So we look forward to your comments and questions, thank you very much, and we will have fun with every one of them.

Take more breaks - Get more done.

Written by Susie Shina
I invented something awesome.  It’s all hush hush for now…
So how did I come up with this mystery product?  Focus. That’s what I’m talking about today.  Giving full attention to the important thing you are doing NOW. I just learned from my friend Noah St. John (#1 best-selling author of The Secret Code of Success) that we only have the ability to fully focus on one thing for a 60 minute time limit… and that’s pushing it.

Find 2 Extra Hours in Your Day

Written by Susie Shina

I wish I had a $1 every time I heard someone say “oh, there is just not enough time in the day”.  There seems to be plenty of time to watch TV, run errands, chat on the phone, Facebook and check email 50 billion times a day…

What's in your Fun Envelope?

Written by Susie Shina

What’s in your ‘Fun Envelope’?

My husband, Mike, decided in order for us to get in control of our finances, we must live our lives out of envelopes. He allots cash to our different household expenses – each has its own envelope. I must admit we have never had a budget… and this envelope thing is driving me crazy. I liked the way we used to do things. When we have tons of money, we throw it around shouting ‘WooooooHoooooo! Hell yeah!’ When we don’t have tons of money, well, we don’t do that.

Organic Sugar is STILL Sugar...

Written by Susie Shina

Food labels are killing me.  Organic, gluten-free, fat-free, low-carb, all-natural, added fiber, heart-healthy, calcium rich.  Everyone in the food industry has jumped on the ”healthy” bandwagon.  The new ‘health conscious’ labels make me feel better about what I’m eating… but should they?  I’ve been known to binge eat some healthy food.  I never feel bad about it because it’s healthy, riiiiight?!  Here are a few things to think about when eating your ‘healthy’ food…

Freedom of Decision!

Written by Jack Hatfield

As we mourn the loss of the King of Pop, I sit and wonder a lot of what we have learned. He had talent. He had a passion at one point. He had control.

Did he lose his spirit? Did he give control over to too many people? Did he really live in freedom?
